Hi,

Came across this website recently. It lists FD rates of ALL Indian banks on one page. Tremendously useful to do some quick comparisons.

And given the current market scenario, FD's don't seem such a bad option either.

Do you think chit funds are safe?

Hi all,

I saw in many places that chit funds give high returns which can be much greater than any share market profit, but is it safe enough to put the money in chit funds? How to belive the person who is conducting chit fund business ? Does he has to take an agreement with any of the government office to start business ?

- Dileep.

In recent times I had put some serious thinking into "How do Mutual Fund manage to pay huge dividends?”

For example:SBI Magnum Tax Gain on Feb 15th 2008 paid Rs.11/unit as dividend. The Unit price over a period of 1 year (March 07 – March 0 would average around Rs.55 and if we take Satyam computers as an example it gives around Rs.16-20 rupees as dividend per share priced around Rs.450. So SBI Tax gain is generating Rs.1 for every Rs.5 invested while Satyam is generating Rs.1 for every ...

Few tips to save while refuelling. (Sourced from multiple sources)

1. Fill up your vehicle during early morning when the temperature is still cool.

Fuel density will be higher early morning due to overniht cooling of underground fuel tanks.Remember that all service stations have their storage

tanks buried below

ground. Buying fuel during evening time should be avoided as you'll get less fuel.

2.
RULE 72

RULE 72, can be used to estimate approximate time required to double any investement at a given interest rate compounded annually. According to the rule just divide 72 by the interset rate and the result is the approximate time required to double the invested amount.

For instance, if you invest Rs.1000 with compounding interest at a rate of 8% per annum,

According to RULE 72 it would take around 9 years (72/9 = 9 years) for the invested amount to become Rs. 2000

More read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_72

An agent (pigmy agent) designated by bank would go to homes and shops of individuals and collect their savings and submit it to bank on their behalf.

Can you name the bank which initiated this novel concept?
