It has been learnt from highly reliable sources that TCS has implemented a 20% cut in variable pay. Industry wide this appraisal season unlikely to be as good as previous years.

Tough time ahead for IT guys? What are your views?

Other companies also have the variable component in their pay structure which can be brought down if company doesn't make profit. So there may not be a formal announcement of pay cut but indirectly same may happen....

TCS cuts its variable pay.. Satyam has been doing this from long time.. Satyam has been giving less than 100% couple of times before this fuzz on decrease in $ rate... U see there is no media hype.. TCS is like a gov company.. so this is a major issue.. It is quite quite normal to get a variable pay lesser than 100% in Satyam Crying or Very sad

Companies should start billing tehe clients in terms of ' Grams of GOLD / man hours ' instead of dollars. Very Happy Very Happy
